Amazon treatment centers: A robotization to the extreme

Amazon, on the occasion of the Cyber Monday today, spoke about the latest addition to its centres of treatments in the USA. The eighth generation of these centres, robotic in the extreme, result, according to their comm, of almost 20 years of software and mechanical innovations. There are already 10 what these centers next generation across the United States. But look pretty:

 

Amazon development teams are innovating in our treatment centres to increase the speed of delivery while offering a greater local supply at a lower cost for our customers. Progress in our latest treatment centres address these three desires of customers while continuing to provide a pleasant environment for employees, said Dave Clark, senior Vice President of operations for Amazon worldwide.

In these treatment centres:

  • Robots Kiva, a company specialized in the automation of the lines of handling, acquired by Amazon in 2012. There would be more than 15'000 robots Kiva currently operating in the United States.
  • Robo-Stow, one of the greatest the world robotic arms.
  • Optical reading systems for unloading and inventory of a full truck in 30 minutes.

Amazon recently announced that he's hiring 80,000 seasonal employees to fill orders of year-end, an increase of 14 percent compared to last year. The company expects that thousands of these employees will then remain in the company, in permanent employment.
